Hello! I'm back. No reliable internet in Watson Lake - so you get two days worth of road news for the price of one.
Gosh, both this morning and yesterday morning, it was cold - like about 9C - so I was really glad to have the long underwear that Kim brought to Newfoundland for me. By this afternoon - the sun was shining - and I was too hot. But all day yesterday and 70% of today - I was sure glad to have them. It was cloudy and drizzly all day yesterday - and for the first half of today - but really - not bad - had a fantastic ride.
Now we are in the mountains and it is so pretty - you follow a river valley - go over a pass - admire that view of the mountains - and then repeat - we have done that for two solid days. Laurence and I agree - yesterday's stretch from Fort Nelson to Watson Lake through the Northern Rockies was the prettiest. But - today was also fantastic. I think because the cloud was lower today - that impacts the impression - so on a clear day - it might have been a tie.
I am sitting here trying to put this in words while photos and videos upload. Summary thoughts - bison, bears, rabbits, foxes, ravens (huge ravens), several birds I did not identify, some raptors - not sure if hawks or falcons, tons of boreal forest varying from fairly densely deciduous to mostly conifers, tons of fireweed along the ditches, running along river valleys - depending on the valley-anywhere between 400 m and 700 m - and then up and over the pass - depending on the pass 900m to 1300 m - and into the next river valley, ditches full of flowers - roses - yellow unidentified - white unidentified, corners, hills up, hills down, slow sweeping curves, boom-chug-a-lugga curves ( grin time), long views of 15 - 20 km of low rolling hills through the valley with mountains to both sides and a river to one or the other side. Wow - just fantastic.
Construction as you leave the Toad River Valley.
Muncho Lake - Very pretty place
Bison in the Liard River valley.
Another place in the Liard River Valley.
Yippie - we made it to Watson Lake at the end of a really epic day. Some of the sign posts Watson Lake is famous for.
We though Kim & Lynn's Dad (Robert Campbell Moulds) would like this sign

Oh - and a 3 Ocean Tour Sticker!
Out to the Rancheria River Valley.
The view of the bridge over the Nisutlin River at Teslin
Marsh Lake is incredibly pretty. We need to stop and look at the dam at the north end - the lake may be man made which we did not originally realize.
Whitehorse - ready to tour the city!
There we are! Another territorial capital down! That means we have Victoria and Ottawa to go! Plus two Oceans! I have just enough cigars!
The waterfront is very nice.
And that is it! We are caught up. We have a couple of off days in Whitehorse. Kim flies in tomorrow and we will tour around the area.
Stay tuned.
