A Very Laid Back Day in Whitehorse

We had a nice easy pace to the day. Started with coffee, then ran over to the car wash to wash the bike and the Chev. Then, dropped the bike off for scheduled maintenance - was hoping they could squeeze it in today - but looks like it will be tomorrow per the appointment.

Then - got a message from my cousin Lyle who I have not seen face to face since about 1981 that he was in Whitehorse today! We thought we might be able to hook up as his travels crossed ours - and worked out perfectly!

Had a nice lunch with Lyle - and wished him bon voyage as he continues up the Klondike Highway - with a potential to turn at Carmacks on the Robert Campbell Highway to head over to Faro. It was great to see Lyle and I hope we see each other again soon - Hey Kim - wanna drive down to Baja Mexico if and when you retire? Hmm?

Then - we popped up the highway aways to the Copperbelt Railway & Mining Museum. It was OK - but will not be the main reason why you come to Whitehorse.

Drove over to the Fish Ladder - but the salmon were not running yet - so nothing to report there.

Then - since we were on that side of the river - we drove over to Long Lake. Small - so likely warm - and stocked - so likely good fishing!

By then - we could check in to the hotel - so here we sit - beer in hand - and deciding where to go next! I think I will try to talk Laurance into the Woodcutters Daughter - so I can get another of these delicious gin and tonic's made with that most excellent Fever-Tree Tonic Water.

Cheers all - until tomorrow!

  1. Yes, go for Baja Mexico! I've always wanted to do that trip in a classic vw bug or bus (and somehow, also bring a bunch back). Enjoying living vicariously through your journey. Any good stargazing on your travels?

  2. I like it! I lean towards either a convertible Mustang or an RV. No stargazing - did not bring any gear.
