South of Sixty - The Stewart-Cassiar Hwy South to Dease Lake

So, this morning after having initially gone North of Sixty on June 28th, we are back South of Sixty to stay.  On the way from Yellowknife to Whitehorse - we were south of 60 for about 2 1/2 days - and as you drive the ALCAN across the top of BC - you briefly dip below 60° degrees - but basically - we have been north of 60° for about 3 1/2 weeks. I will miss the territories - and Alaska.

The drive down the "Stewart-Cassiar Scenic Route" to Dease Lake was really nice. The motel - the Northway Motor Inn - is a great buy - and very nice - with a little burger joint next door - which is good for a small place like this! I recommend it!

A short video to give you a feel for the drive:

Bandwidth is low - so the video will take a while to finish uploading.

As mentioned- Laurence saw a mountain goat - and I saw a brown bear and a coyote. It goes without saying that as usual - tons or ravens and ground squirrels / gophers.

The first 30- 40 km - a huge fire has burnt the forest on both sides of the Cassiar Hwy - wow - what a mess. The lady who cooked our burgers said it was so hot - it was melting the asphalt. Wow.

Some additional pictures.

Got a little gift for Kimat Jade City - hope she likes it. Jade City is cool - stop and have a look if you are in the area.

That's it for tonight. Tomorrow -  off to Stewart.
