Kananaskis Country, Some of the Prairies, The Badlands

Had a fantastic trip from Blairmore to Drumheller today.

A look around at Blairmore

Up to the Frank Slide

At the intersection of 22 and 3 - Laurance kept going east - and I headed for Kananaskis! So long Laurance -we have had a blast - see you in a couple of weeks!

Up 22 - it was hugely pretty -this is the foothill country at its best!

The Bar U Ranch

Off into Kananaskis Country

Someplace in here - I went through Highwood Pass - the sign said 2206 meters - the Garmin said 2187 - I am going with the sign! Holly shit - that is a high pass! What was cool is that you just gradually climb up to it and then fairly steep back down to Highway 1 - just amazingly pretty. Also - looks like good skiing! Gonna need to do it one of these days!

Check out the Mountain Sheep

Off to Drumheller via some great prairie views

Dropped below 1000 meters part way from Airdrie and Irricana. This is the 1st time below 1000 meters since one of the valleys back in the Kootenay. The foothill country is high. Gonna just keep getting lower as I head east. I already miss the high country :-(

Drumheller - to see the badlands - and the big dinosaur of course!

And that is it for today. I have not finalized tomorrow's plan - but for sure will follow the Red Deer River for awhile, and then head for the Grasslands National Park.
