Wrote this last night. Having trouble with internet. Maybe a size restriction? Will try to update with pictures tonight.
Saturday was a great day. I really liked our route. We went highway 6, highway 3A, then Crowsnest Highway. As soon as you leave Vernon - it is a good ride - you are still in the arid valley - and we did some ups and downs and some great twistiest all the way to Needles. Once you to get to the Monashee Pass area - you are up high in alpine forest - no longer in the arid valleys - and the twisties go from good to great. This piece of highway (Vernon to Needles) has to be a favourite - so pretty - lots of twisties, fantastic scenery, pretty good road surface - including some fairly rough chip and tar - I could ride this again. Then the stretch from Needles back up to Nakusp - a very pretty stretch - but not that interesting of a ride. From Nakusp back down to Castlegar - this was both pretty and fun to ride!

At Castlegar - we picked up the Crowsnest Highway - which is an OK ride - fun enough - but certainly not the twisties. BUT - it makes up for that with fantastic scenery and - two fantastic passes - the Kootenay Pass took a new altitude record for the trip - 1774 meters. And the Bonazza Pass was 1535 meters. Btw - good info on BC passes at this link. Saw a couple of deer - it was getting late - prime time for a deer to jump in front of you!
We kept on going - and called it a day at Blairmore. Sunday - I will head up north to Highwood Pass - and Laurence will head east!

Forgot to mention - hit a couple of small rainstorms in the passes. Man - between the rain and altitude - all of a sudden in went from 36 °C down to 22 ° - in about 2 minutes!
Anyway - I figured out the picture problem- looks like you can only have about 1000 photos in an album - to the first 1012 photos for the trip are in "2017 ThreeOceanTour". Starting with yesterday - the next chunk of the photos will be in "2017 ThreeOceanTour-2"
The ferry ride from Needles
Looking across the Lake at New Denver
The Cenotaph at New Denver
The Tim Horton's in Cranbrook. I needed a picture of this. The last time I was there was 2006 - I was in a wheel chair with a compound fracture to the tib-fib - and a broken bone in my hand. This time - the in and out was much easier :-)
Here we are at the summit of the Crowsnest Pass - which also happens to mark the Eastern edge of the Pacific Watershed1
A video from the same place
